A young singer and songwriter as she is, Amy Winehouse indeed had a fair share of limelight as she has been known for her multiple musical genres, not to mention her powerful voice--at least before her personal and health problems emerged.

This 25-yearold singer-songwriter had her debut album sometime in 2003, entitled Frank, which was launched in Britain. Her first ever album turned out to be critically acclaimed and was even nominated for the Mercury Prize award, a flattering experience for a novice singer like her then.

After barely three years of releasing her debut album, Winehouse launched another entitled Back to Back, which was utterly another hit in the charts. This same album garnered a string of nominations at the Grammy Awards leaving the public about her musical prowess. The album got five awards under the said musical award-giving body, in which she was able to break a record for getting five different awards in a single night. Some of the Grammy Awards she got include Best British Female Artist and Best New Artist.

Awards for Wineshouse did not stop pouring. She also received some more awards from different award-giving bodies including the BRIT Awards, which gave her the Best Female British Artist on February 14, 2007. Her singles also gave her additional feathers on her cap as she bagged three awards at the Ivor Novello Award.

Despite her numerous awards of distinction, Winehouse has been dragged also to a lot of controversies. She had been reported to be addicted to drugs and alcohol, which apparently destructed the prolific career that she used to have. Instead of earning more awards from different music award-giving bodies, she found herself receiving embarrassing awards like "worst celebrity dresser" from different celebrity polls. Her publicists, however, blame this incident to the environment and personal life that she had to deal with.
